Solar hot water uses the suns energy to heat the hot water you use in your home.  If you live in an average household in BC, your water heater is the second biggest user of energy after your furnace and it accounts for 30% of your home's energy consumption!  A solar hot water system saves you 50-60% of the energy that you buy to heat your hot water throughout the year.

Solar hot water is a great way for your household to take advantage of the free, abundant, renewable energy from the sun with a reliable, independent system.  You will be protecting yourself against future increases in electricity costs, and you’ll also be directly reducing greenhouse gas emissions by saving up to two tonnes of CO2 per year.

Skyward Energy is proud to offer Enerworks solar hot water systems.  Enerworks is a Canadian manufacturer of 4-season, high efficiency systems.  Besides being a very high quality product, Enerworks systems have a number of important and unique features that make them the clear choice:

  • Attractive appearance:  Side flashing hides the piping on your roof and makes your solar collector look much like a skylight.
  • No need for a "vacation bypass valve" to remember when you go away:  A temperature-controlled overheat protection device (a simple damper on the back of the collector) allows the collector to cool itself when your house isn't using enough hot water in the summer.  With other systems you have to remember to open a "vacation bypass valve" if you're leaving for the weekend (and close it when you return) to prevent system damage.  Enerworks systems look after themselves with this patented design.
  • Higher efficiency, lower-maintenance:  A low-flow natural-convection domestic water loop is a method Enerworks uses to increase the efficiency of your storage tank, and avoid the need for two pumps (Enerworks systems use just one pump).
